Dick and Amy Rogers are not just in-laws, they share a successful enterprise. The two each bring several strengths to the operation of Hayward Medical Market, Inc...which opened nine years ago at 22656 Foothill Boulevard in downtown Hayward.

Dick has many years of experience in retailing and medical sales, representing Medline Industries, the largest privately held manufacturer and distributer of medical products in the United States. After he retired, he realized that many drug stores and other shops might offer some medical supplies but usually didn't offer enough merchandise to provide one-stop shopping for those looking for a variety of medical needs.

After coming up with the concept of a full-scale medical products store, Dick enlisted the participation of his sister-in-law Amy to help him launch the retail enterprise. "I'd always wanted to be a nurse," she said, "and I like people." She was also eager to learn more about working in sales. Success in Hayward led the two partners to open newer and larger stores in Concord and San Mateo.

Whether a client needs bandages or wheelchairs, incontinence or bathroom safety products the owners have carefully assembled an impressive inventory that meets and exceeds the needs of folks looking for specific aids to treat various medical conditions and recover from temporary injuries.
